In Your Opinion what is the best SNES game ever made.
Mine would have to be F-Zero. I could play that game 24/7/365.

My favorite SNES game of all time is Final Fantasy 2. I love the story and have great memories of playing it. As a close second I'd probably say Street Fighter 2: Turbo. I'll probably never get bored of pulling off dragon-punch uppercut combos with Ken.

I'm going to go with Star Fox. No other game pushed more boundaries on the SNES in terms of raw processing power.

Super Mario Kart!
The original is still my favorite version. Not only was the single player racing fun but the battle mode was revolutionary!

Hmm…just one?
I'd have to say Super Metroid. Nothing comes close, in my opinion.
I started collecting SNES games a couple years ago. My hope was to have every US release in box. So far, I'm up to over 200 games. Most of those with boxes as well. Behind Super Metroid, I'd put Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, FF3, and Super Punch-Out!!

Of course the best game is Chrono Trigger. Zelda LttP in a very close second. Lttp was the game that made me fall in love with the SNES, but Chrono Trigger made me respect it.

I'm gonna go with A Link to the Past although Final Fantasy III is close. I'll give LttP the edge because as great as FF3 was I can't imagine starting it over again. I'll also give a nod to Shadowrun for “best SNES game most people haven't played”.
I haven't played Chrono Trigger yet because back in the day I just didn't have the cash and it was never cheap. I recently bought the new DS remake and it's just sitting here just waiting to be played.

Shadowrun! Hellz yeah! The difference between the SNES and Genesis versions is like night and day.
CT DS is good, and they put a lot of extra stuff in there, as well as the anime cutscenes from the PS1. Although it still isn't the same as playing it the first time around on the console, I think I still favor the DS version just becasue I had been begging for a portable version for years. I just don't seem to have the time to sit in front of the TV anymore.

Most people think it's the same game, and even those that have played both seem to prefer the Genesis version. The Genesis one is good and everything but I think the SNES one is better. The storyline is solid, great soundtrack, and play style very different from most RPGs. It's too bad more people didn't catch on to it because it's really one of the best SNES games made.

Final Fantasy II and Link to the past I can play forever. As for Shadowrun I'm currently trying to beat that game for the first time. Never tried the genesis one. Where there any other games like this that anyone has played on the SNES?

N2J – do you mean a game that is like Shadowrun or just a rare gem that most people haven't played?
For a rare gem I'm gonna recommend Metal Warriors on the SNES. (Not to be confused with Metal Combat or Metal Marines) The single-player mode was similar to Cybernator, but it also had a 1-on-1 multiplayer mode that had a lot of fun combat.

The Genesis one was more action based. It had less of an RPG feel, and a crappier story in my opinion. That's not to say that it wasn't a decent game, I just think the developers could have spent some more time on it.
I guess I have just been spoiled with the P&P game. Any game that's played in the mind seems to be better than a video game. Just like books are always better than the movies.

Shadowrun the movie + Battlestar Galactica = Bladerunner.

I'd have to agree. In my opinion, the sequel is just as memorable!

I was wondering the same… action RPGs that play like Shadowrun or cyberpunk games? Both are short lists unfortunately – and that's what makes Shadowrun such a great game.

hugues: Did you ever play Chrono Trigger DS? I'm on my second play-through right now. Gotta use cheat codes, tho. I hate level-grinding.
I'm kicking around the idea of compiling the definitive SNES Buyer's Guide from various old game magazines. I'm trying to create a list of Top games that the guide will have in-depth coverage on. My first draft of that list is here:
Super Metroid Final Fantasy III Chrono Trigger Super Mario World Legend of Zelda Super Mario All-Stars Super Mario Kart Super Star Wars TMNT IV SUper Mario RPG Donkey Kong Country Street Fighter II (Turbo or Super) Demon's Crest Super Punchout Secret of Mana
What do you guys think?

Haven't had a chance yet – I've been playing Retro Game Challenge lately. It has an RPG called Guadia Quest that's like a shorter version of Dragon Warrior. Once I wrap that up I'm going to either start Chrono Trigger or Kingdom Hearts.
