by Jeromy on Aug.12, 2009, under Misc
Imagine this: We’re right in the middle of a console generation, with one company dominating the market and another one lagging behind. Suddenly, out of the blue, a brand-new outfit appears with a brand-new console, packed with crazy unique features and playing host to all kinds of new and original games from previously unknown developers. Secrets abound in NES Punch Out!!, here’s one
by Jeromy on Aug.09, 2009, under NES
In the most recent Iwata Asks interview Wada discusses the original game and, since he has the chance, reveals the secret. “This is a great opportunity, so I have something I’d like to say. In Punch-Out!!, the game gives you a lot of hints about effective timing of punches. There is a big boxer called Bald Bull in the NES version as well and a light flashes to the right in the audience when he charges. If you punch when it flashes you will land a body blow” he said, going on to claim that this was the first chance he had to tell his secret. Not only this but he goes on to say that there are “lots of hidden elements in the NES version.”

dude faces prison and $96,000 fine for hosting DS ROMs
by Jeromy on Aug.03, 2009, under DS
The man, one Yoshiaki Asagiri, had set up a Web site that had more than 1,000 Nintendo DS ROMs available for download, à la a site you’d find in the early days of MAME. (You’re better off getting your ROMs from Usenet, or from a “trusted” BitTorrent source, in my professional opinion.) In any event, yeah, The Man found out, and now the Kyoto District Court has ordered the 38-year-old to prison, plus a nice fine to go along with his sentence.
