Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa Review
by Jeromy on Jul.30, 2009, under Wii
That’s the feeling here, with Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa — freshly arrived on the Wii’s Virtual Console from SEGA’s 8-bit Master System. The first Fantasy Zone was so inventive, vibrant and fun that it was obviously going to inspire a sequel, back in the ’80s.

Retro Mini X Handheld NES System
by Jeromy on Jul.30, 2009, under NES
This retro gaming system even comes with a tiny version of the classic NES zapper, apart from a couple of wireless remotes. All you need are original NES carts (that still work) and you’re good to go. Unfortunately, the Zapper won’t be able to function with the integrated LCD screen, and will work only when you hook it up to a CRT-type TV

Dreamcast, NES Ported To Papercraft

Sure, they don’t work, but these cardboard consoles definitely start more conversations. Best part, you don’t even need tape or glue. Thicker paper is recommended, as is a nice printer that can handle 150dpi printouts.

Happy 20th Birthday, MOTHER!
by Jeromy on Jul.28, 2009, under Nintendo
On this day in 1989, the first MOTHER game was released in Japan, for Nintendo’s Famicom (ie the NES). Very few of you will have played it. They’ll hurt you they’re so charming.

Famicom Controller Business Card Holder
by Jeromy on Jul.23, 2009, under NES, Weird
The NES Controller Type Card Case, to be exact, a ¥2,900 ($31) anodized aluminum folder with a pair of compartments within — one for your cards, and one for those you receive.
There are two designs, neither of which do more than the other. Each looks like an NES controller, but one has a fake mic and volume switch in addition to the fake D-Pad.
