NES Controller Turned Wireless Doorbell

by Jeromy on Jun.28, 2009, under Mods, NES

Not your standard NES controller mod, this Nintendo fan decided to turn his into a wireless doorbell. This was accomplished by gutting the controller, hacking a wireless doorbell system, and then mounting the receiver/LED inside. Video after the break.

New Forums (yes, again)

by Jeromy on Jun.27, 2009, under Misc

We’ve had to update our forum software…again. *sigh*

The bad news first: All the old posts, while they still exist, could not be transferred over.

The good news: These new forums are a major upgrade with a lot more options.

Head over and check them out, the important posts will be copied over manually and feel free to repost an old thread to here. It sucks but ultimately it needs to be done.

Find the old forums HERE and the new forums in the normal links above.

From The Vault: A Look At Box Art From Classic Sports Games

by Jeromy on Jun.25, 2009, under Misc

Classic box art takes its share of lumps among gamers, most often for the generally goofy art. And yes, the neon colors, squiggly ‘90s shapes and abundance of sunglasses-sporting heroes make game covers a fair target. Turn those boxes over, however, and you’ll often see stuff that’s equally as interesting. Whether it’s ridiculous claims in the bullet points, dated screenshots or references of hardware long past their day, boxes offer a fascinating look at gaming’s past.

Guitar Hero on the NES: D-Pad Hero

by Jeromy on Jun.22, 2009, under NES

I just stumbled onto this NEW game released for the NES. This is a terrific and fun port of Guitar Hero, all things considered of course. The music is great and game play is “natural”. It’s being released for emulators, I tried it in FCEUX 2.1.0a and it worked perfectly.

Check it out here D-Pad Hero!

Terrible B-Movies get 8-Bit makeover

by Jeromy on Jun.22, 2009, under NES, Weird

Failed movie-license games litter the ROM Pit archives like unsold E.T. cartridges clogging a New Mexico landfill. The Something Awful Forum Goons wondered what would have happened if NES-era developers had struck deals with B-movies instead of blockbusters. The results certainly couldn’t have been worse. In fact, these images suggest the games would have been much, much better. Let’s weep together for what might have been!

Nintendo Gameboy Look-alike DS-Lite Pouch Design

by Jeromy on Jun.22, 2009, under DS, Gameboy

The pouch is made up of different colored felt appliques which are hand sewn together to give it a more realistic and 3-D feel. Made exactly of the same size as the DS-Lite, with dimensions of 4” x 6 1/2”, the pouch provides the precise room for holding the DS-Lite. Also, the pouch has enough space to house some stationary, an iPod, your glares, a small digicam and many more stuffs.

Game Fighter, a horizontal Game Boy clone

by Jeromy on Jun.21, 2009, under Gameboy, Weird

This rare handheld loads original Game Boy carts and apparently has a clearer screen than the system it’s modeled after.
